Manchester United women have confirmed the signing of England’s World Cup goalkeeper Mary Earps for an undisclosed fee.
The 26-year-old was part of the England side that finished fourth at the just concluded Women’s World Cup in France.
Earps represented German side VfL Wolfsburg during the 2018/19 season and has previously played for Reading, Bristol and Birmingham.
United confirmed the transfer on their website with the following statement: “Manchester United is delighted to confirm the signing of Mary Earps for the club’s women’s team.”
Reacting to the transfer, Earps said: “I’m delighted to have signed for Manchester United. Something special is happening at the club and I’m excited to become a part of that. I feel like this is the perfect place for me to reach the next level in my career. I can’t wait to get started!”
United’s Women’s coach Casey Stoney has also reacted to the transfer, saying that she is looking forward to working with Mary.
Stoney said: “Mary is a great addition to the team and will strengthen our goalkeeping department as we look to push on this season in the WSL. We are all looking forward to working with her.”
