Super Eagles boss Gernot Rohr has said he expects three players to return for the Africa Cup of Nations semi-final clash against Algeria this Sunday.
According to AllNigeriaSoccer, Ahmed Musa, Odion Ighalo and Chidozie Awaziem were left out of training after suffering injuries in the 2-1 win over South Africa, but according to Rohr, they will be back for the crucial clash.
“Odion Ighalo has a calf injury, Ahmed Musa has adductor while Chidozie Awaziem coped ankle. But the team doctor has assured me that the said players will be ready and fit to play in the semi-finals,” Rohr told SportingLife, Daily Post reports.
The team will face an Algerian side who have arguably been the best team at this edition of the Afcon. The north African nation defeated Ivory Coast on penalties to book a place in the semi-final on Thursday night.
They also boast of quality players, with Manchester City star, Riyad Mahrez, the biggest of them all. The game will be a further test of Rohr’s ability to get important results with the Super Eagles after a slow star to the competition.
