Frank LampardAccording to a report by the Talksport, Chelsea will declare Lampard as the first team manager in less than 48 hours. Meanwhile, it is further stated that the Chelsea legend will bring along his assistant manager Jody Morris.
Earlier this month, it was claimed Lampard had reservations about taking the job over fears he’d be given the boot if he failed to immediately reach the club’s targets. But according to The Sunday Times, Blues owner Roman Abramovich assured him he’ll be given at least two seasons to turn the club’s fortunes around.
Morris has been under Lampard, ever since the English International took the charge of Derby last year. Moreover, he is set to make his own return at Stamford Bridge, after several successful years as the Blues’ academy manager.
It is further reported that the former English International has reportedly agreed a three-year agreement with Chelsea. While, the Blue are also negotiating to fulfill the compensation clause in Lampard’s contract with Derby.
Both Lampard and Morris had an impressive campaign with Derby until they fell short on qualification to the Premier league after being defeated in the Championship play-offs against Aston Villa.
With Chelsea suffering through a transfer ban, the club is expected to call back several loanees or might have to find some players from the academy. The 40-year-old has previously worked with Chelsea’s Under-18 setup, hence Morris will know the group well, having won numerous trophies during his four years with the academy.

Previous reports have stated that Lampard has already agreed a 3 year deal, that however, remains uncertain as of now. It is expected Lampard’s lack of experience in the top-flight will concern some Chelsea fans.
