Manchester United coach Solskjaer orders club to make a €45m bid for Ligue one Star Striker

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has ordered Manchester United to make a €45m bid for Lyon striker Moussa Dembele, according to various reports. The Red Devils boss wants to bring more attacking firepower to his front line at Old Trafford, with Romelu Lukaku suffering a drop-off in form this season and Marcus Rashford linked with a big-money move away. And in former Celtic forward Dembele, he might have found his man.

Solskjaer is a big fan of Dembele, who has scored 14 goals in Ligue 1 this season. Having carried out background checks on his character and playing style, Solskjaer is confident that the 22-year-old Frenchman fits the profile he is looking for, as he seeks to build a younger squad. However, with four years left on his contract, Dembele would not come on the cheap.

Nonetheless, the boss has now told United chiefs to ready a €45m (£39m) bid for the striker – and Dembele is not the only Ligue 1 based player he wants to target. United have made a substantial offer to unsettled Monaco teenager Hannibal Mejbri, as the 16-year-old midfielder eyes a move away.

Mejbri’s relationship with his present club has deteriorated, and while he would not be a first team player at Old Trafford, he could be signed as one for the future, in keeping with Solskjaer’s long-term vision for the club. The French outlet claims that United have been in talks with Mejbri’s family for several months, as they look to lure the France U16 international to Manchester.

Those talks appear to have gone well, as the family are now trying to get Monaco to release Mejbri from his contract, which runs until 2021. Mejbri went on trial with Arsenal in 2016, and is also wanted by Bayern Munich, but United seem to hold the advantage in the race to sign the starlet.
