Former air chief, Amosun, forfeits N2.7 billion to FG

JUSTICE Mojisola Olatoregun of the Federal High Court, Lagos, has ordered that the sum of N2.7 billion which was recovered from former Chief of Air Staff, Adesola Amosun, should be permanently forfeited to the federal government.

Olatoregun gave the order on Wednesday following an application filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in June last year.

Recall that on November 12, 2018, Olatoregun granted a temporary forfeiture order for the sum of N2.2 billion which the EFCC said it recovered from Amosun, as well as the sums of N190 million and N101 million recovered from Olugbenga Gbadebo, a former Director of Finance and Budget at the Nigeria Air Force (NAF),  and Solomon Enterprises, a company linked to Amosu, respectively.

An order was also given for the EFCC to publish the forfeiture order in two national newspapers so that interested parties can come forward with reasons the monies should not be permanently forfeited the Federal Government.

In a counter affidavit filed by Amosu and another interested party, Bolaji Adigun, an air vice marshal, they claimed that the funds were from their personal businesses and not from any illegal or corrupt activity.

But Justice Olatoregun dismissed the counter-affidavits on Wednesday. She held that there was no proof that the funds were legally acquired.

“Upon examination of the two applications asking the interim orders to be set aside, dated July 28, 2018. from the first respondent and the interested party, I found nothing to set aside the order, and the applications are hereby dismissed,” Olatoregun said.

“I hereby order the final forfeiture of these sums to the Federal Government of Nigeria: N2,244,500,000, N190,828,978.15 and N101 million.

“The funds should be paid into the nominated GTB treasury single account of the Federal Government and an affidavit of compliance filed within 14 days.”

Amosun and two others are also standing a separate trial before Justice Mohammed Idris of the same Federal High Court, Lagos. They were accused by the EFCC of defrauding the Nigeria Air Force to the tune of N21 billion using several proxy companies.

These funds, according to the EFCC, was used by the accused persons to purchase luxury properties in choice locations in Abuja and Lagos.

End Of The Road: APC Finalizes Plans To Suspend Amosun ,Okorocha

The ruling All Progressive Congress has finalized plan to suspend Governor Ibikunle Amosun and his counterpart from Imo State, Rochas Okorocha from the party over anti-party activities.

High level sources told Vanguard, yesterday, that pressure is also mounting on First Lady, Aisha Buhari, to withdraw the Imo governor’s wife, Mrs. Nkechi Okorocha, from the APC’s 99-man Advisory Council for the Women and Youth Presidential Campaign Team. Mrs. Okrocha is also South-East coordinator for the Women and Youth Presidential Campaign council. Governor Okorocha’s spokesman, Mr. Sam Onwuemeodo, dismissed the claim yesterday, describing it as a rumour that had been in circulation for the past five months. The two governors have been at loggerheads with the Adams Oshiomhole-led NWC, following their differences over the governors’ insistence on the emergence of their preferred choices as APC governorship candidates in Imo and Ogun states.

Okorocha had backed his son-in-law, Mr. Uche Nwosu, as his successor, while Amosun backed a member of the House of Representatives, Adekunle Akinlade, as his successor. However, their failure to realise the goal of making them APC flag bearers forced them to other party platforms. The brickbat between Okorocha and Oshiomhole was despite the fact that Okorocha was one of the strongest backers of Oshiomhole’s emergence as national chairman. Following his failure to emerge as APC governorship candidate, Nwosu was crowned as  the governorship candidate of Action Alliance, AA, a party conceived by Okorocha 10 years ago to pursue his onetime presidential ambition. Akinlade has since emerged as candidate of Allied Peoples Movement, APM, in Ogun State. The move to suspend Okorocha, Vanguard gathered, yesterday, is being spearheaded by Imo State chapter of the party and a reasonable proportion of the party’s National Working Committee, NWC, is now disposed towards it.
The ratification of the move would, however, be given by the National Executive Committee, NEC. Vanguard gathered, yesterday, that the last straw for the APC was the governor’s open support for the Action Alliance candidate, Nwosu, during Mrs. Buhari’s visit to Owerri, the Imo State capital, last weekend. A high-level  party source said: “Rochas campaigned against the APC candidate during the women rally last Saturday. He is supporting AA and we know that the AA national chairman is also backing the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, presidential candidate, Atiku. So, APC sees this as a deceit. “The same thing will happen in Ogun State as the APC leadership will not tolerate such acts at all.The APC sees their action as an insult to Mr. President who is the leader of the party. The AA national chairman cannot be supporting Atiku, while they are supporting AA. They cannot fool the party.’’

Bombshell! Oshiomhole Nobody Can Never Turn Buhari Against Me, Amosun Declares

Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State has stated that no politician can make President Muhammadu turn against him in any circumstances.

The Governor stated this at Kajola ward, Obafemi Owode Local Government Area, in continuation of his campaign to win the Ogun Central Senatorial poll. Amosun claimed that there are moves by some politicians to pit him against Buhari, adding that such moves would not succeed. According to him, “All what they are doing is to turn President Buhari against me. Nobody can turn him against me. It is impossible.” Amosun further called on the people of the state to vote for president Buhari, adding that he had added value to the development of the country and the state.

Amosun added, “Look at our railway, airport, power and many others, so we should all vote for him.” The Governor, who claimed that some people were trying to disrupt the peace in the state, urged the people to resist any attempt by “foreigners” to enslave them with their votes. He said, “Where were they before this time, it is now that the state is fast developing that they want to disrupt its peace. Resist them, don’t allow anybody to enslave you. “I will fight any politician that wants to disrupt the peace of the state. We are not known for violence.”

AMOSUN IS A FRAUD! His plan to become a godfather will crumble after results of Ogun guber election is announced, Opposition candidate declares

The gubernatorial candidate for the Justice Must Prevail Party (JMPP) in Ogun State, Ismail Oyefeso, has said that godfatherism and money politics will loose hands down in the 2019 general elections in the state.

The 34-year-old made the remark in a telephone interview with newsmen on Sunday in Abuja.

The JMPP candidate said that he would emerge as governor because he was passionate about Ogun people and was loved by them.

”Ogun is one of the states in Nigeria with a high level of awareness and informed electorate. It is not enough for the people to vote for me on the basis of being a youth, it’s a question of character, capacity, attitude and the ethical virtues required to propel a cutting edge agenda for wealth creation in the state.

”The people of Ogun are watching the political melodrama going on in the build-up to the election this year. But I can tell you that my people are ready to shift from the old ways of doing things, they are ready to embrace change and this is what is keeping me going”, Oyefeso said.

He explained that ”Leadership revolution is in the minds of the people and you will be amazed by the supernatural power of creation that will shake the four pillars of Ogun for my sake. Godfatherism will fail in Ogun and moneybag politicians will be disappointed in the election,” he said.

He dismissed insinuations that with the big political parties’ participation in the poll, JMPP’s chances were uncertain.

”JMPP is not in battle with other political parties because light has no pact with darkness; the supernatural has dominion over the natural. JMPP is a supernatural party and other parties are natural so we are not in battle with them,” he said.

UNSTOPPABLE AMOSUN!! I Will Be Senate President, No One Can Stop Me, Amosun Declares

The Governor of Ogun State Senator Ibikunle Amosun, yesterday said that he would not close the option of him vying for the position of Senate President if he gets the opportunity. He said whenever the slot is zoned to the South West, he will be disposed to running for it.

The governor spoke during his ward-to-ward senatorial campaign in Ewekoro Local Government Area of state, which is one of the six local governments in Ogun Central Senatorial District. Fielding questions from reporters at Asayobo ward, Amosun, who is a senatorial candidate for Ogun Central on the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC), said he was happy that his people wanted him to serve the country at the national level.

He also flayed some unnamed party leaders who accused him of allegedly concentrating development in Abeokuta, the state capital, and the Ogun Central zone to the detriment of other regions of the state. The governor expressed confidence that he would become a ranking senator once he returns to the upper chamber of the National Assembly having once served there between 2003 and 2007. He, however, declared that there was no way he could become the Senate President since the South- West geopolitical had already produced the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo. Amosun said: “When we went before, we were not that experienced. Of course, we had limitations, but now, you and I know that I am not that rookie senator. I would be a ranking Senator by the time I get there. “You know within the context of Nigeria and the context of our party, people from South-West are number two, the Vice President. So, there is no way we can have both the Vice President and the Senate President at the same time.

“For me, I am happy that we are now considered worthy of number two in the country. So, we are running round to make sure that Prof. Osinbajo remains our vice president and we will concede the Senate President to some other zone. “But you never can tell, maybe in future, if it (Senate Presidency) comes to South-West, why not?” The governor said it was uncharitable for anyone to accuse him of developing Abeokuta over other areas in the state.

He noted that though priority was given to the state capital, his administration had never abandoned other areas in development drive, insisting that his critics were only unnecessarily jealous of his achievements. Amosun said: “Why am I being castigated? Abeokuta was made the state capital over 40 years ago and the only offence I have committed is to have developed Abeokuta. But I tell you, no sane governor will neglect Abeokuta, else that governor will see the result. “I have never neglected other areas. We have one of the best flyovers and roads constructed by our administration in Sagamu.

There are two flyovers in Ijebu- Ode with good roads and the same things are done in Ijebu-Igbo and Yewa. “What we’ve done is that when we do three things in Abeokuta, we do two or one in other places and we are running round day and night to get this done. I am not the first governor in Ogun State, but I appreciate what they’ve done. But no governor worth his salt will abandon Abeokuta.” The governor, who used the opportunity of his campaign to inspect the airport project at Wasinmi area, said the Federal Government had not abandoned the project.

According to him, the airport project is on course and President Muhammadu Buhari would touch down on its runway by May, this year. He promised more dividends of democracy to people of Ogun Central Senatorial District if elected. “The Federal Government has started the airport project and this community will be the biggest beneficiary because the airport will be linked with a standard gauge railway and once this is done, this place will not only be transformed into a mega city, 24- hour power supply will be guaranteed,” Amosun said. The governor urged the electorate to be wary of unscrupulous politicians and resist the temptation of trading their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) for monetary gains.

The governor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, has confirmed that the only offence he committed for which he is being castigated by some leaders of All Progressives Congress (APC) is the development of Abeokuta, the state capital, over other regions in the state.

The governor said no sane governor worth his salt would abandon the state capital to remain a glorified state capital that it was when he was voted in 2011.

Amosun stated this while kicking off his ward-to-ward Senatorial campaign across all the wards in Ewekoro Local Government Area of Ogun Central Senatorial District.

While speaking at Owoowo Ward 9, the same ward from where he contested the senatorial seat in 2003, Amosun said it was uncharitable for anyone to accuse him of developing Abeokuta over other areas.

The governor said though priority was given to the state capital, he had never abandoned other areas in his infrastructural drive, accusing the unnamed leaders of being jealous of his achievements.

He said: “Why am I being castigated? Abeokuta was made the state capital over 40 years ago and the only offence I have committed is to have developed Abeokuta. While soliciting their votes in all the wards, Amosun appealed to the electorates not to trade their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) for monetary gains saying some politicians will come deceiving them.
