According to the latest figures from the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), the country recorded 176 new cases of coronavirus.

This brings the total number of COVID-19 cases in Nigeria to 5, 621 with 176 deaths in total. 1,472 have however been discharged.


Nigeria’s COVID-19 Cases Reduce, Recoveries Double Despite Ease Of Lockdown

Nigeria has recorded a 16% drop in COVID-19 cases from last week compared to the previous week according to Premium Times.

A review of the daily report by the Premium Times shows that “Nigeria recorded 1,470 new cases in the past week (May 10 – May 16), a 16 per cent drop from the 1,763 cases reported in the previous week (May 3 – May 9). This week’s figure is, however, higher than the 1,206 cases recorded in the penultimate week (April 26 to May 2).” There was also a 101% increase in the numbers of patients discharged.



Why Abacha Stashed Billions Of Dollars – Galadima

In an interview with The Nation, top Nigerian politician Buba Galadima explained why the late Head of State, General Sani Abacha stashed billions of dollars overseas.

According to him “I know as a fact that at that time, Abacha with knowledge of key members of his government, who knew about this money being stacked out, he was rightly advised by some of his colleague presidents around the world. Saddam Hussein was one of them. Muammar Gaddafi was one of them. They adviced him that there was the likelihood that the US could sanction Nigeria and as such he should save money outside that could last the country, at least, six months, even Nigeria’s account was blocked by the US, there won’t be panic.”


Fani-Kayode Raises Alarm Over Chinese Doctors And Their Mission

Former Minister of Aviation, Femi-Fani Kayode has made comments concerning the whereabouts and mission of the Chinese doctors who came into the country a few weeks ago.

“Where are the 15 Chinese doctors? What is their mission? Who invited them? Is it true that they are spreading and infecting our people with Covid-19 and testing new vaccines on us? Are we Guinea pigs? Why did the Minister of Health tell us to stop asking questions about the Chinese?” tweeted Fani-Kayode.


PDP Gives Buhari Govt 48 Hours Ultimatum On Chinese Doctors

The main opposing party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has given the Buhari-led administration “a 48-hour ultimatum to declare the whereabouts of the medical team from China who were brought in purportedly to assist the nation in its fight against the spread of the COVID-19.”

“Nigerians can recall how the Federal Government had failed to respond to demands by our party and other well-meaning Nigerians for the particulars of the members of the team, their medical status, scope of operation, detailed itinerary within our country as well as the safety of the equipment they brought into our nation” the PDP tweeted via its official Twitter account.



Mob Sets Vehicle Ablaze For Killing Okada Rider

According to METRO Punch, a mob in Lagos set a vehicle ablaze for allegedly killing an okada rider.

The incident which happened in the Ikorodu area of Lagos state on Saturday night saw the bus ram into the okada rider as it tried to navigate a hill.


Suspected Fulani Herdsmen Kidnap Woman

According to a report by the Sunday PUNCH, a woman by the name of Mrs Muna Ezeudu has been kidnapped by gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen on Saturday in Enugu.

Popularly known as ‘Mama Enugu’, it was reported that she was kidnapped at her residence in the early hours of Saturday.


Driver Drowns In Osun River

A truck driver by the name of Sheriff, fell and drowned in the Osun River on Friday evening according to Sunday PUNCH.

It was said that the deceased wanted to have a bath after he and his colleague’s truck got stuck in the road while going to offload the content of the vehicle.


Three Feared Killed, Cows Shot As Gunmen Attack Fulani Community

During an attack in in Egume, Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State which reportedly took place mid-week, three Fulani and nine of their cattle were allegedly killed.

According to The Nation, “some heavily armed gunmen invaded the Fulani community at Ofanwa Elubi in Egume, and opened fire on the Fulani people and killed three persons on the spot, while about nine cows were also killed during the deadly attack.”
