Veteran Nigerian musician pleads with EFCC on behalf of Naira Marley, See what he said

A veteran Nigerian musician has pleaded with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to show mercy to Naira Marley.

John Asiemo better known as Daddy Showkey recently voiceda a plea to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to temper justice with mercy in the case of Naira Marley who is currently in their custody for his involvement in cybercrime popularly known as “Yahoo Yahoo”.

Naira Marley was arrested alongside Zlatan Ibile; Adewunmi Adeyanju Moses and Abubakar Musa on the early hours of Friday May 10.

However, while Zlatan Ibile and two others have been released on conditional basis, Naira Marley is still cooling his heels at the anti-graft agency’s office.

In light of this, Daddy Showkey who became popular for making ‘ghetto’ music has called on the commission to show Naira Marley mercy.

In a video post on his Instagram handle on Wednesday the Ajegunle born singer said: “Temper justice with mercy. This is just a young man growing up, lets not use his mistakes to spoil his career we all went through so many things growing up….we can use him as a spokesman to young people against crime @officialefcc maybe he will learn with this.”

Meanwhile, it was previously reported that the artistes and two of their associates were nabbed by the operatives of the EFCC following their controversial support for fraudulent practices among young Nigerians. And sources close to the agency said that electronic devices belonging to the parties were confiscated during the bust, prompting the agency to launch strict investigations into their activities.

Yesterday May 15, Zlatan and two others were released, while Naira Marley remains with the EFCC because they found incriminating evidence on his laptop, reports also claimed Davido made the release possible.

“According to our source, Zlatan Ibile, Rahman Jago and two others person were freed on “bail” following the intervention of a Senior Advocate of Nigeria allegedly hired by Davido,” the report said.

But new reports online later revealed who really brought the lawyer that released Zlatan and his friends?

Apparently, prior to Naira Marley and Zlatan’s arrest, Davido was quick to post a #FreeNairaMarley hashtag on social media which was joined by a couple of other musicians who showed their support via the platform.

Davido had earlier posted “#MARLIAN !! Freee bro!!!! Nothing spoil!! I got u!!!”

One of the guys from Zlatan’s camp, a popular South African based Nigerian big boy known as Aremo Gucci later took to social media to warn Nigerians not to give credit to anyone claiming they hired the lawyers that fought for the release of Zlatan and friends, and that it was only Olamide and Burna Boy that showed genuine love without posting it on the gram.
