Not Just internet fraud; EFCC reveals real reason why Naira Marley was arrested with his friends

Rave of the moment, Naira Marley wasn’t just arrested for internet fraud  activities; The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has revealed that the reason behind Naira Marley’s arrest is because of his involvement in advance fee scam and other related crimes.

The acting EFCC spokesperson, Mr Tony Orilade, in an interview with Premium Times, said;

“Yes, he is with us. He’s not the only person; he had some other persons also arrested alongside (him). They were arrested in relation to advance fee fraud — Internet-related cases and all of that. Give me a little time and I will get you the details.”

The news of Naira Marley’s arrest first broke in the early hours of Friday, May 10, 2019.

According to Premium Times, Azeez Fashola popularly known as Naira Marley has been arrested by men of the EFCC for questioning. It is not clear the reason behind his arrest but it could be connected to his recent comments on Internet fraudsters on social media.

Also, the EFCC has not released any statement concerning the arrest of Naira Marley.

Meanwhile, following the arrest of the singer which is currently making headlines across various media outlets, the ‘Am I a yahoo boy’ hitmaker has been set free.

Although there’re no details yet as to how he was released or the criteria’s he met to secure his freedom, but a new video circulating online shows well-wishers excited to see their friend come out unhurt.

Shortly after his release, the singer was seen hanging out with rapper, Olamide.

On Instagram, Davido posted his picture and called for his release.

“MARLIAN!! Freee bro!!!! Nothing spoil!! I got u!!!”, he posted.

Nigeria Police PRO in Zone 2, Dolapo Badmus in her response mocked the artiste.

“The only authentic NAIRA I know is Nigeria’s legal tender. Any other naira attached to something is a counterfeit!”, she wrote.

Popular London based Nigerian online influencer Oyemkke also responded to the Police PRO, stating that Naira Marley isn’t Nigeria’s problem and the young lad should be free’d. See his reaction below…
