Soon after the release of his album, My Dear Melancholy, fans began speculating that The Weeknd and Bella Hadid were back together. There were rumors of kissing at Coachella—which the model promptly shut down. Then, canoodling in Cannes. In June, social media sleuths deduced that there was a date in Paris. And now, the two have given the world the most concrete evidence that they have rekindled their romance: an Instagram.

Fine, not an Instagram together, exactly. But an Instagram tag. The Weeknd posted a picture of himself and his crew in Tokyo, Japan.”No More Dreams,” he captioned it, then added a camera emoji, tagging Hadid as the photographer. Fan accounts also took grabs of what appears to be the Weeknd‘s Instagram story, which show a laughing Hadid enjoying a night out in Toyko.
So they were definitely in the same place at the same time, and they had no qualms about sharing that. Could this be an indicator that they are slowly declaring a new relationship status?
They wouldn’t be the only ones. Young celebrity couples like Pete Davidson and Ariana Grande, as well as Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin, have been using their social media accounts as relationship status updates. It’s where the former debuted her ring, and where the latter confirmed their engagement. After all, what better way to control the narrative?
Or maybe there’s no orchestration involved, and Bella Hadid and The Weeknd are doing what so many other twentysomethings do—just hanging out, and documenting their crazy night as it happens. It would almost be a refreshing change of pace.
Selena Gomez and The Weeknd’s romance came to an end in 2017 It was confirmed that the talented duo called it quits after 10 months of dating. As you likely could have guessed, fans of the couple immediately had questions about the surprise break up.
Before you speculate that there’s a whole lot of drama involved with this duo, one source says it’s just not the case.
“It was more of a mutual break up. They were distant because of work,” an insider shared said. “It didn’t end in a bad way. The relationship was basically over before Justin Bieber and Selena hung out.”
“Abel is not upset about Selena and Justin hanging out,” the source continued. “Their relationship was over before they were hanging out. Abel is not dwelling over anything.”
